Running Through History

There is no doubt that Fredericksburg is one of the most historic cities in the United States. While there are lots of ways to experience the history of the area, one of the most fun and unique is while participating in the 2019 Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon on Sunday, May 19. The race begins at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center which is only about 5 minutes from the Fredericksburg Hospitality House. The race course winds through historic Old Town Fredericksburg, and if you choose to participate, you will pass Old Mill Park, the Rappahannock River, Kenmore Park, the University of Mary Washington, and Jefferson Davis Highway. Throughout the entire race, you will be able to take in and contemplate the historical significance of the ground you are running on, including many landmarks from the Civil War. Summer is just around the corner, and training for and participating in the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon is a great way to get in shape for the warmer weather.
